Our Village and Us
Letovnik
We are nestled on the edge of the charmingly rustic village of Letovnik (Летовник) (meaning “travellers rest”) which, with the help of its 30 or so inhabitants has retained its cultural traditions and rural way of life.
True to its name, Letovnik has been a stopover point for travellers throughout the ages, the crusaders even introducing weaponcraft such as the longbow and crossbow.
Our village is en route to the mountain spring Dambala (Дамбала), renowned for its holy water which has attracted numerous visitors for many moons on the 5th May each year, when the water is believed to contain its most magical healing properties.
The area is dotted with ancient graves and sacred sites, caves, waterfalls and of course the Letovnik riviera, ideal for fishing and summer fun.

For nature lovers, the Eastern Rhodopi’s, or the Eastern Rhodope Mountains (Родoпите), host almost half the species of flora found in the country and more than 1500 species of fauna, many of them registered as endangered species worldwide, including the Imperial Eagle, the Egyptian Vulture and the Black Stork .
Located in Southern Central Bulgaria, we are one of the last watering holes in Europe and The self proclaimed Halfway House to India.
We enjoy hot summers and temperate winters influenced by the Aegean Sea which is only 60km away.
The Happy Hippy Hostel
The hostel itself is an old school which was abandoned in the early 90′s after the fall of communism, and now, after three years of much love, challenges and bloodshed, and with lots of help from many friends we have created a hand-hewn haven for all.
